Blog Post #4 Oreo Challenge

An Oreo cookie is the perfect creative constraint - circular, black and white, crispy and creamy...the possibilities are endless. With one cookie and some art supplies you are challenged to think metaphorically and reflect upon what you've learned the past 3 quarters.

Depict:

*a scene from any book

*a concept you studied from any book

*a QUOTE from any book

OR

*a vocabulary term you’ve studied

My creation:

For my creation, I used one of our vocabulary words, atrophy, and depicted it in the form of an oreo. Atrophy means to wither away, so I broke up the oreo into three pieces, showing the oreo withering away piece by piece. On the left, it shows a full oreo cookie. In the middle, the cookie has been broken in half. On the right, the oreo cookie has been broken into a much smaller piece.

My favorite:

This was made by a classmate of mine, Kellie. Kellie’s oreo creation is also based off a vocabulary word. The word she chose was myriad. Myriad means a large number. She depicted myriad by breaking up the oreo into many pieces, to show that there was a myriad of oreo pieces. I chose this to be my favorite because it was really creative and it easily showed myriad.
