Journal #1 Tragic Moments

In life, there will be unfortunate events that we will have to face. The most tragic thing I have endured throughout my life was when I had to get surgery. When I was in fifth grade, my stomach was aching and I had a loss of apetite. My parents and I went to the hospital where I was told that I had a hernia. Hernias are quite common and easy to take care of if you take control early. However, some hernias can be life threatening if left untreated. Even though the hernia was nothing serious, I was still very scared. The whole process of going through surgery made me scared. The days leading up to my surgery, I would always tell my parents how I don’t want to die at a young age. On the day of surgery, it was successful, however I had trouble walking for the next few weeks. It was quite hard learning to walk, since my legs felt dead. Not being able to walk made me frustrated, since I was worried how my peers would feel. This whole process of getting my hernia removed was a scary process for me mentally and physically. As I look back at my surgery, I am very fortunate that it was nothing serious. The hernia taught me to embrace life and be grateful for others.
