For your Journal today, comment on your perception of what it means to be a man in the world of Macbeth versus in our world today. Do you agree with how modern media portrays men or the expectations of men? In your personal opinion, what does "being manly" mean to you?
To be a man in Macbeth, it was portrayed as following through with your actions. Even though the example of manhood in Macbeth had to do with murdering someone, it still showed that being a “man” meant following through with your decision. Today, I see the word “man” as a stereotype. When I think of what it means being a man, I picture peer pressure and bad decisions. Being “manly” means doing things you are not comfortable doing. When it’s a good or bad thing, it usually has a negative effect.
