Think about people who might be "modern Macbeths". Sure, dictators come to mind (as seen above), but perhaps also ruthlessly ambitious entrepreneurs, or people in powerful positions who take advantage of their rank and abuse their power.
For your journal, think about someone in our modern age (20th or 21st century) who could be considered a "modern Macbeth", according to your understanding of his character. You might need to do a little research. Try to find at least one individual to specifically talk about.

The first person that comes in mind is Lance Armstrong. Lance Armstrong was a professional cyclist, infamous for the biggest doping scandal in cycling history. Like Macbeth, Armstrong was looked upon as a hero, a role model for all athletes winning 7 Tour de Frances. However, results showed that Armstrong had done PED’s(peforming enhancement drugs) and it was in his system. Just like that, Armstrong went from a hero to the world’s most hated man. In Macbeth, Macbeth seems like he is going to be a hero, however power gets to him making him evil.
